The Lace Oatmeal Cookie

From Joan's Granny Fitz (Margaret McGrath)

My Mother told me that these were her favorite cookies, but I don’t ever remember her making them.

The recipe came from my Father’s Mother, whom we called Granny to distinguish her from Grandma. My Aunt Joan, told me that Granny (her mother) had an operatic voice and that she had designs on singing professionally, but gave it up when she married my grandfather. Made by my Granny Fitz in St. Louis I had never made them, but sent the recipe from CT to St. Louis for a family wedding. They were made there and distributed to guests along with other family favorites.

I have just now made them for this project them in CT. They didn’t turnout the way I had imagined. I hope they’re good.
